Scope of the Project
The project entailed rehabilitating two of the park’s key water attractions: the Wavy Pool and the Wild River.
With the aim of reducing the high annual maintenance costs of surface painting, both pools required waterproofing.
As part of ongoing park improvements, other pools in the park had previously been rehabilitated using membranes from the SOPREMAPOOL product line.
Challenges Encountered
The Wavy Pool presented significant technical challenges for membrane installation.
The main challenge was to waterproof the area where the compressed air blowers are used for wave generation, creating an area highly exposed to water movement and high pressure.
Another challenge was the waterproofing of the Climbing Wall above the Wavy Pool. It was particularly difficult to achieve a reliable and durable seal on a vertical surface constantly exposed to water from the pool and climbers.
To meet these installation challenges in the most difficult areas of the project, our technical department designed special mechanical fastening systems to ensure safe and efficient application.
Implemented Solutions
SOPREMAPOOL synthetic waterproofing
A state-of-the-art waterproofing system was installed on both pools using SOPREMAPOOL PREMIUM and SOPREMAPOOL FEELING Azure Blue reinforced membranes.
Geotextile barrier
To provide an additional protective layer between the pool structure and the SOPREMAPOOL reinforced membranes, the GEOLAND HT 300 geotextile was applied over the entire surface. This geotextile acts as a fungicidal barrier, preventing the growth of microorganisms that could cause unattractive stains on the membrane. Alternatively, the SOPREMAPOOL TEX 350 PP geotextile would have been an equally suitable option.
Installation reinforcement
Angle PVC metal strips* and flat PVC metal strips* were also used to guarantee a sturdy, durable installation capable of meeting the water park’s high operational demands.
*Products available in Canada upon request.

Rehabilitated Areas
This system offers high-quality, long-lasting protection over a total application area of 42,269 ft2 (3,927 m2), distributed between the two pools as follows:
Wavy Pool | Wild River | |
---|---|---|
SOPREMAPOOL PREMIUM Azure Blue: | 10,656 ft2 (990 m2) | 17,986 ft2 (1,671 m2) |
SOPREMAPOOL FEELING Azure Blue : | 10,656 ft2 (990 m2) | 1,970 ft2 (183 m2) |
Superficie totale : | 21,313 ft2 (1,980 m2) | 19,956 ft2 (1,854 m2) |
Details on the Products Used
SOPREMAPOOL PREMIUM
SOPREMAPOOL PREMIUM is a reinforced synthetic membrane manufactured by a cast process. It has a thickness of 60 mils and a varnish coating on the upper side, which improves durability and resistance to microorganisms, chlorine, and UV rays. This soft and flexible membrane is available in a variety of exclusive designs, including some that mimic ceramic finishes, making it a perfect choice for the most challenging high-end projects.
SOPREMAPOOL PREMIUM comes with a 12-year waterproofing warranty and an additional 3-year warranty for stains caused by bacteria.
SOPREMAPOOL FEELING
Also produced by cast process, SOPREMAPOOL FEELING is a reinforced synthetic membrane that has been tested for slip prevention according to the European standards EN 13451-1 (according to Annex B of EN 15836-2) and DIN 51097 (1992). With a thickness of 60 mils, this membrane is engineered to handle extreme weather conditions and resist UV rays and microorganisms.
Thanks to its anti-slip properties and special texture, which offer enhanced comfort to the touch, this easy-to-install membrane is ideal for maximizing user safety in shallow areas.
Benefits of Reinforced Synthetic Membranes
Composed of four layers reinforced with polyester mesh, SOPREMAPOOL membranes have great tensile strength and high dimensional stability, providing high mechanical and puncture resistance as well as a high ability to be optimally welded for easy installation.
Highly effective against atmospheric agents and UV rays, SOPREMAPOOL membranes are also highly resistant to microorganisms thanks to the “BIO-SHIELD” treatment, which makes them a reliable and long-lasting solution for pool renovation projects.

User Safety
In both the Wavy Pool and the Wild River, the safety of users in areas—where the water depth is less than 4.9 ft (1.5 m), such as the beach area—was a priority.
Anti-slip membranes such as SOPREMAPOOL FEELING, engineered for slip prevention according to the highest standards, were used in those shallow areas.
Conclusion
Improved safety, reduced maintenance costs, and increased durability
The rehabilitation of the Aquapark Gino Paradise pools using SOPREMAPOOL membranes has not only improved the functionality and safety of the facilities thanks to the installation of anti-slip surfaces in critical areas, but has also considerably reduced maintenance costs by eliminating annual painting costs, guaranteeing customer satisfaction, long-term durability and sustainability of the facilities.
Installer's testimonial
The installation company has reported that the application of SOPREMAPOOL products went smoothly, thanks in large part to the ongoing technical supervision and on-site support provided by the SOPREMAPOOL team.
They also stressed that product quality and speed of delivery were essential to the success of the project.
