Although sustainable development has long been part of SOPREMA’s values, it was only in the spring of 2018 that the company initiated an actual approach in Canada.
With the adoption of our first Sustainable Development (SD) policy in January 2019, we strengthened our commitments and redoubled our efforts to increase our contribution in improving ways of doing things across the value chain of the construction sectors.
Inspired by the lifecycle concept, this approach encompasses all components of the business at all levels and relates to activities as well as products.
Each subsection of this page addresses a field of collaboration, that is to say one of the sectors of activity of the company. The subsections briefly explain our aspirations and include examples of success stories in sustainable development. These will be updated frequently based on our progress.
Our commitments are broken down into three major projects dedicated to aligning our strategies and making sustainable development a reality.
Our efforts must contribute to environmental protection by limiting or mitigating impacts at one or more stages of the lifecycle of our products.
Fight Against Climate Change
Our efforts contribute to the fight against climate change by reducing the carbon footprint at one or more stages of our product lifecycle. They also help support actions to adapt to the climate.

Improving Human Health and Well-Being
Our efforts must contribute to the protection of health and well-being by improving the quality of life of individuals at one or more stages of the product lifecycle.
Serving as the driving imagery and roadmap of our approach, the SD diagram helps in locating the main issues and challenges related to sustainable development according to each of the company’s sectors of activity.
Serving as the foundation of our approach, the SD policy addresses each element of the diagram word for word. It provides solutions and explains how sustainable development forms part of the practices of all partners.
