SOPRA-CELLULOSE AB Calculator
Use the appropriate calculation tool below depending on the type of application to determine how many bags of thermal insulating cellulose you will need to perform your insulation work.
This calculation indicates the minimum number of bags to use. The final result will vary according to the application technique, the equipment and the hose used. The thermal resistances presented in this chart are measured after settlement, according to ASTM C518 standard and ASTM C687 conditioning method. A 15% settlement rate for RSI 8,6 (R-49) and RSI 8,8 (R-50) and a 20% settlement rate for RSI 10,8 (R-61) was added.
This calculation indicates the minimum number of bags to use. The final result will vary according to the application technique, the equipment and the hose used. The minimum number of bags required takes into account the volume of the wood structure. For floors/ceilings with metal structure, additional bags may be required. Check with your representative for more information.

SOPRA-CELLULOSE technical data sheet does not have coverage recommendation for nominal insulation that exceeds R61 for attics, and R75 for walls assembly. Therefore, any output from the calculator for situations that exceed those two limits are only given for guidance and do not represent a SOPREMA Inc. prescription. This is explained by complex settlement behavior, namely, for high thickness applications.
For more support for applications which exceed the datasheet content, the customer shall contact a SOPREMA Inc. representative.
The quantities indicated by the calculator are not a guarantee, express or implied, of the number of SOPRA-CELLULOSE bags needed for a specific project. SOPREMA Inc. will not accept any liability whatsoever resulting from the use of the calculator, including the numbers of bags needed for the surface to be covered. Moreover, the number of bags required depends, in any situation, on the application technique, the equipment settings and the hose used, which is not under SOPREMA Inc. control.
