At SOPREMA, we take pride in our presence in Canada and our commitment to local communities. We have built a company that combines innovation, expertise and proximity, offering high-quality solutions tailored to Canada’s unique climate and construction requirements. Thanks to our nationwide presence and strategic initiatives, we actively support local economies, help reduce environmental impact and provide exceptional service to our customers.
Discover the 10 reasons why SOPREMA is your go-to partner for sustainable and eco-friendly construction projects.
- We support local economies, employing over 1,050 people across our communities. Over the past two years, our hiring rate has increased by an average of 10%.
- We offer a rapid supply service thanks to our 14 waterproofing and insulation manufacturing plants, strategically located across Canada.
- At SOPREMA, we understand the unique challenges of the Canadian climate, with its harsh winters, its sometimes extreme summers and its unpredictable weather swings. Our products and services are designed to meet these demanding conditions, while complying with the strictest Canadian construction standards and codes. As a locally based company, we understand regional specificities, allowing us to offer solutions perfectly suited to the needs of our customers, wherever they are in the country.
- Since our establishment in Canada in 1978, all profits generated in the country are reinvested here, contributing to remarkable growth. In recent years, we have expanded our presence with the construction of new plants, including a polyisocyanurate insulation plant in Drummondville, Québec (2015), an XPS insulation plant in Sherbrooke, Québec (2018), a waterproofing membrane plant in Woodstock, Ontario (2020) and a polyol plant in Drummondville, Québec (2025).

Furthermore, SOPREMA consolidated its expertise and increased its production capacity through the 2017 acquisition of a New Brunswick-based company specializing in prelaminated roofing panels, as well as the purchase of several cellulose insulation manufacturing companies: in Québec in 2016, in Alberta in 2021, and in Manitoba in 2024. These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to the Canadian economy and our desire to offer innovative solutions that meet local needs.
- Our Canadian shipping network allows us to ensure efficiency and reduce logistics costs, while also providing a guarantee of independence and peace of mind with regard to unforeseen border issues, customs tariffs and exchange rates.
- Doing business with SOPREMA also helps reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from transportation. For example, a truck leaving Chilliwack (BC) to deliver waterproofing membranes to Vancouver (BC) produces approximately 97% fewer greenhouse gases than a truck leaving a plant in the southern United States to go to the same destination.
- We offer prompt bilingual customer service from coast to coast.
- SOPREMA encourages its employees across Canada to get involved in their community, as each of them can volunteer up to 8 hours a year during working hours. SOPREMA has also created scholarships to reward and support the efforts and outstanding talent of graduates from various construction and architecture programs across the country. SOPREMA also supports non-profit organizations (NPOs) by donating products for building construction or renovation projects.
- Each year, we train more than 1,500 installers in our 10 Canadian training centres, in addition to educating more than 4,000 professionals in building science through webinars and presentations given by our experts.

- We offer an efficient and comprehensive on-site service thanks to our team of over 100 technicians and representatives across our 11 sales offices in Canada. SOPREMA has at least one sales office in each Canadian province.
