In 1995, SOPREMA launched its SOPRANATURE line of vegetated roof systems in Canada, at a time when the concept of a green roof was still new. Today, these urban oases are an integral part of the modern architectural landscape—and SOPRANATURE has a lot to do with it.
A Blooming Industry
The vegetated roof industry has undergone spectacular growth over the past few decades. Initially perceived as niche aesthetic or ecological components, green roofs have gradually established themselves as solutions to several urban issues. They address many contemporary challenges: managing rainwater, reducing heat islands, promoting biodiversity, improving energy efficiency, and much more.
This shift was not a mere coincidence. It is the result of a combination of technological innovation, evolving standards, environmental awareness, and the work of pioneer companies like SOPREMA, who believed in the potential of vegetated roofs long before public policies promoted them.
