SOPRA-SPF 202: A Better Sprayed Polyurethane Product

Published by Catherine Lavoie Canuel

New Regulations

As of January 1, 2021, Canadian regulations will prohibit the use of certain blowing agents in the production of insulation, including sprayed polyurethane.

This is why SOPRA SPF 201, made with hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) will be replaced by SOPRA-SPF 202, made with hydrofluoroolefins (HFO). Indeed, thanks to the new blowing agent used in its manufacture, SOPRA-SPF 202 is a product with zero ozone depletion potential and a very low global warming potential (GWP of < 1).

A Positive Change

In addition to being more environmentally friendly, SOPRA SPF 202 also offers several advantages:

  • R-value of 12.1 for 50 mm (2 in)
  • Product density of 36 kg/m³ (2.2 lb/ft³)
  • Better coverage rate than SOPRA-SPF 201

Like its predecessor, this new product has a CCMC certification.

A Full Product Line of Sprayed Polyurethane for All Types of Applications

Although the SOPRA-SPF line was launched only a few years ago, SOPREMA now offers a full range of sprayed polyurethane to suit all types of applications.

SOPRA-SPF 202 (will replace SOPRA-SPF 201)

SOPRA SPF 202 is a two-component, closed-cell spray-applied polyurethane foam insulation system designed for commercial, industrial and residential insulation applications. It is available in two versions depending on the application temperature.

SOPRA-SPF 100 is a two-component, open-cell, spray-applied polyurethane foam system. It is made with an open-cell, 100% water-based, vapour permeable blowing agent and can be applied both indoors and outdoors.

SOPRA SPF 500 is a two-component, open-cell, spray-applied polyurethane foam system designed for interior commercial, industrial and residential insulation and soundproofing applications. Its blowing agent is water-based, so SOPRA SPF 500 does not contain hydrofluocarbons (HFCs).
