Soprema collects honors (French)

D’une année à l’autre, Soprema continue de collectionner les honneurs. L’entreprise a été couronnée gagnante dans la catégorie «Industriel 75 employés et plus» dans le cadre du Gala des Napoléon de la Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Drummond (CCID) à la Maison des arts Desjardins.

Entreprise manufacturière d’envergure internationale qui se spécialise dans la fabrication de produits d’étanchéité pour les constructions et les ouvrages de génie civil, Soprema exploite, à l’échelle mondiale, seize usines de fabrication dont six en Amérique du Nord. Le chiffre d’affaires annuel de la société dépasse les 1,5 milliard de dollars. Établi à Drummondville, le siège social nord-américain de Soprema chapeaute près de 410 employés au Canada, dont quelque 250 à Drummondville.

Ce n’est pas la première fois que Soprema voit sa façon de faire être reconnue. Rappelons qu’en 2008, lors du Gala des affaires de la CCID, l’entreprise avait reçu le prix «Distinction» décerné à l’entreprise de l’année dans la MRC de Drummond.

Soprema Chilliwack is pleased to announce that it has earned the award for "Business of the Year" at the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce gala last week. This is the Chamber's highest award, among more than 850 members across region.

SOPREMA is recognized at the Eight Annual Medina County Business Awards on Monday, November 7th at the Blair Center in Westfield.

The focus of this event is to recognize and honor business located in Medina County that have achieved significant results in terms of innovation, capital investment; long term commitment to sound business practices in operation, management and sustainability; or community involvement.

Soprema was a nominee in four categories for these 2011 Medina County Business Award :

Entrepreneur de l'année
Green Leader
Corporate Citizen-Company
Capital Investment

It is not customary to have one company nominated in four separated categories, but in the case of SOPREMA that is exactly what occurred.

Choosing a clear winner in all categories is a difficult task, because all nominees are winners in there own right. The three judge panel, consisting of former Medina County Commissioners Ralph Berry, Jr. and Chuck Hawley, along with Crain's Cleveland Business Publisher/Editorial Director Brian Tucker chose the winner for each category which were announce at the MCEDDC Annual Speaker Series on Monday, November 7th, 2011. Altough SOPREMA was not the recipient, the recognition was well deserved and noted.

SOPREMA unveils its mammouth Spirit

Last September 19th, SOPREMA North American corporate headquarters unveiled The Mammouth Spirit, a sculpture representing the logo of the centennial French company. This work of art is the largest bronze sculpture ever cast in Canada.

At the event, Mr. Pierre-Étienne Bindschedler, President of SOPREMA, seized this opportunity to explain to those present why it was decided to erect this statue in Drummondville. As for Richard Voyer, Vice President and General Manager of SOPREMA North America, he recounted the project's origins and selection process. He also took the time to thank the individuals and companies who somehow took part in the project, namely, Vincent Champion-Ercoli, the artist-sculptor, la Fonderie d'art d'Inverness, Les Artisans du passage, Creaform, the Centre d'usinage USIMM, Les Innovations paysagées Ladouceur and Les Jardins Lumières..
