Low-emitting materials: adhesives & sealants

PROPOSED SOPREMA SOLUTIONS:

The following are some SOPREMA products that qualify for the "porous architectural" category as per the regulation below:

• ELASTOCOL STICK H²0 water-based primer - 2 grams VOC per litre
• ELASTOCOL 350 water-based primer - 4 grams VOC per litre
• ALSAN Trafik HP 510 Zero VOC-free, single-component, polyurethane-based primer - 0 grams VOC per litre
• DUOTACK dual-component, polyurethane-based adhesive - 0 grams VOC per litre

INTENT:

Reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, potentially irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants.

All adhesives and sealants applied on site inside the building must comply with the following standards:

• The VOC content of adhesives, sealants and sealant primers used must be in compliance with the VOC content limits of the State of California's South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule #1168. Current VOC limits are listed in the table below and reflect the limits stated in amendments made on January 7, 2005 and in effect since July 1, 2005.
